An awful lot has been said, and more still will be, but like so many others I’m compelled to contribute.
Photography was about the only thing I was really good at as a high school kid. There was this confluence of technology and aesthetics that required a left and right brained approach, and I had a passion for that. Most people didn’t get that, or didn’t care. They only saw one side of the equation, the art or the execution. But both were necessary to make good photography. That appealed to me, and that’s also why I was drawn to Apple products.
Despite dropping out of college, I was able to translate that passion into working on Apple computers early in the 90‘s. It was technical equipment that we used to make (sometimes) beautiful images. Not that different from the Hasselblads or 4x5 E6 or Novatron strobes I had learned to use through trial and error. Eventually it became a livelihood for me and allows me to support my family to this day.
And I’m thankful to Steve for validating my passion in the intersection of art and technology.
